"Si mahasiswa ngomong cepat sekali. Aku baru denger poin pertama, udah berubah topik."

"Aku bingung harus nyatet info dari bacaan atau dari percakapan dulu."

Apakah kamu pernah merasakan panik seperti ini saat mengerjakan TOEFL iBT Speaking Task 2 (Integrated Speaking) ?

Kamu tidak sendirian. Speaking Task 2 adalah salah satu tantangan terbesar di TOEFL iBT karena mengharuskanmu melakukan multitasking ekstrem: membaca teks akademik pendek (45 detik), mendengarkan percakapan antara dua mahasiswa (60-90 detik), lalu menyusun jawaban (30 detik persiapan, 60 detik bicara) — semuanya dalam waktu kurang dari 4 menit!

Kabar baiknya: kunci sukses Speaking Task 2 bukanlah membaca cepat atau mendengar semua kata. Kuncinya adalah menyaring informasi — memisahkan apa yang penting dari apa yang tidak penting. Kamu tidak perlu mencatat semua kata. Kamu hanya perlu menangkap kerangka logika dari bacaan dan percakapan.

Bacaan (Reading Passage):

  • Biasanya berupa pengumuman akademik (announcement) atau proposal mahasiswa (student proposal).
  • Berisi: kebijakan baru, perubahan aturan, atau usulan kegiatan.
  • Struktur: (1) pengumuman, (2) alasan 1, (3) alasan 2.

Percakapan (Conversation):

  • Dua mahasiswa (pria dan wanita) mendiskusikan bacaan tersebut.
  • Satu mahasiswa biasanya setuju atau tidak setuju (opinion), yang lain hanya berperan sebagai pendengar atau penanya.
  • Struktur: (1) pendapat speaker utama, (2) alasan 1 + detail, (3) alasan 2 + detail.

Apa yang Akan Kamu Bicarakan?

Tugasmu dalam Speaking Task 2 adalah:

"Summarize the announcement (bacaan) and explain the student's opinion (setuju/tidak setuju) and the reasons he/she gives for holding that opinion."

Artinya: Kamu harus merangkum bacaan (apa yang diumumkan dan mengapa) DAN menjelaskan pendapat mahasiswa (setuju/tidak setuju) beserta dua alasan yang diberikan.

Bagian 2: Rahasia Membaca 45 Detik – Hanya Informasi Penting

Kesalahan terbesar peserta: mereka mencoba membaca dan menulis SEMUA kata di teks. Hasilnya? Waktu habis, catatan berantakan, dan tidak ada yang tertangkap.

Ingat: Kamu tidak perlu (dan tidak mungkin) mencatat seluruh isi bacaan. Kamu hanya perlu menangkap 3 informasi kunci dari bacaan.

Bagaimana Mendeteksi Opini dengan Cepat?

Dalam 10 detik pertama percakapan, salah satu mahasiswa akan menyatakan pendapatnya. Dengarkan kata-kata ini:

  2. Cari soal Speaking Task 2 di internet (ETS Official Guide, TST Prep, Notefull).
